Social Responsibility

  • Elgin Park Orcas raised over $23,000 to help Tsunami victims in South East Asia over 3 days in January, 2005. The Semiahmoo Rotary Club topped up our donations to $36,000, the amount needed to rebuild a school in a devastated region of Thailand.
  • Students Grades 8-12 and parents participated in a most compelling Katy Hutchison presentation “The story of Bob” in April 2005.
  • Grade 8 and 9 students participated in the BC Lions program “Lions in the House” where they explored themes including bullying, setting goals, and commitment to school.
  • April was also “Cultural Mosaic” month with activities like international soccer games, dance shows, singers, face-painting, ethnic breakfasts, scavenger hunts, multi-lingual announcements and a whole-school multicultural luncheon.
  • Elgin Park adopted 11 families for Christmas Hampers.
  • Elgin Park Cyclebetes Spin-A-Thon raised over $54,000 for Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes
